The tomato pin cushion has been a sewing staple through the ages.  Here is a canvas work interpretation of this timeless classic.  This sophisticated tomato is stitched on congress cloth and measures 4” x 6” x 5” when finished. There is also a charming strawberry emery which is stitched on congress cloth and measures 2” x 2 1/2” x 2” after finishing.  There are 5 panels on the tomato that are stitched in different Florentine embroidery patterns.  Threads used include Fyreworks metallic, Very Velvet, Flair, wool, and stranded cotton.  Beautiful twisted cords will be created to be used in the finishing process.  These threads will create a durable and usable pin cushion.  The kit includes all of the threads needed to complete the design as pictured, complete instructions including finishing, congress cloth with the design outline, and needles.  Students will need to provide 2-3 buttons for finishing and fiberfill stuffing.

Cost of kit: $97.00
Students should bring to class:
11” x 18” stretcher bars

Thumb tacks or staples to attach canvas to stretcher bars
